This is a great opportunity for a results-orientated person with experience as Merchandise Planner to become a vital part of a successful company. The Merchandise Planner will play a pivotal role in the development and growth of the business.  Working closely with the purchasing team and reporting to the Product Development Manager, the planner will use historical sales and market trends to manage forecasted sales and purchasing budgets, ensuring adequate and timely inventory coverage and stock holdings. 

 

Being hands on, you will hit the ground running and be excited by the opportunity to join an Iconic brand.  Your primary areas of accountability and responsibility will be:

  • Forecast replenishment for all case goods, as well as maintain ongoing stock
  • Place and confirm order to suppliers and make sure items are received on time and within the predicted forecast
  • Manage suppliers lead times, issues and changes that occur within the order time frame
  • Reviewing and analyse case goods stock and replenishment
  • Identify all potential demand events and forecast their impact
  • Continuously improve processes and management for all case goods and promotional/seasonal ranges
  • Work closely with the purchasing team to provide insights, information and recommendations to support commercially sound future buying decisions
  • Work together with the lounge Purchasing Manager to correctly forecast lounge stock
  • Check lounge orders confirmed by suppliers and correct the errors identified
  • Regularly report to management the status of case goods stock and forecast

 Essential

  • 1+ experience as Merchandise Planner
  • Demonstrated retail planning/merchandising experience
  • Importing/exporting and international trade experience
  • Excellent analytical and a knack with numbers
  • Great attention to detail with strong data entry speeds
  • A strong and genuine passion and interest in the retail furniture industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-lasting relationships with suppliers
  • Customer orientated and proactive approach, and initiative to make their own decisions within stock ordering and planning
  • Advance Microsoft Excel and intermediate Word skills

 Desirable

  • Similar experience and proven track record in the furniture industry
  • Knowledge of the furniture market, segments and trends
